I am very frustrated in the lack of Bible in church and society and life in general.
What happened to the time when Christians regularly went to church and regularly talked about the Bible with family. At the church I am currently attending it bothers me that people don't bring their Bibles. Today it seemed like the pastor expected people to not bring their Bibles. Bibles give context that reading a verse on a screen can't give you. My church is fairly modern, yet we sit on pews. Not the padded kind either. In the back of each pew are Bibles and Hymn books. We never sing from the hymn books but that is a different topic. Ok so you forget your Bible in the rush to get to church on time (or half an hour into the service as is now strangely popular). Then use the Bible that has been so kindly provided by the church for your use. Christians should be reading their Bible at home so they have a Bible. There are people who read the Bible on their device, fine, just don't get distracted by Angry Birds during the sermon. Then there are the people who come prepared to take notes but still don't have a Bible open. Then what are the notes for if they aren't related to their personal Bible and notes in the margins or highlighted areas. you won't remember if this was important to you 3 years ago unless you can see it in context in your own Bible you study from.
Gay People.
Yup, I'm going there. The Bible clearly states that sexual relations with the same gender is a sin. I will admit that this caused me to be homophobic until recently. As Christians we are not to exclude anyone but take the log out of our own eye before taking the speck out of our neighbours eye. Everyone sins differently. We are not called to judge. I got over my homophobia because I got to know someone really well and be good friends before I found out he was gay. This happened because people don't talk about whether they like girls or guys in regular conversation. Straight people don't flaunt their straightness or come out saying they are heterosexual. Why is it such a big deal that they need to say they are gay. Can't they just be? What they do is against how God wants people to live but so is adultery and lieing and cheating and stealing and divorce. The Church needs to stand strong on the point that homosexuality is wrong but they also need to realize that everyone sins. Both sides need to realize that God wants everyone to love him. I know of people that called themselves gay but then became Christians and read what God thinks about homosexuality and are now in heterosexual marriages. God can change people but the Church needs to let Him.
Let Go
Let God
